Ex – HMAS Canberra scuttled in Bass Straight off Barrwon Heads, VIC

Project Details:

The project involved the scuttling of the Ex-HMAS Canberra, a 4500 ton naval vessel to form artificial diving reef. The vessel was successfully scuttled in a depth of 30m by using explosive charges to form sixteen 1m x 1m openings in the bottom of the hull causing the vessel to sink in a pre-determined location. The sixteen hull severances are also used as diver access to the vessel.
